On behalf of TransAmsterdam, Rubi Validor and Agnes Geneva attended the Remembrance Day ceremony on May 4. At 20:00, two minutes of silence were observed in Amsterdam and across the Netherlands in memory of the victims of the Second World War and subsequent conflicts.
At the Homomonument, special attention was given to people who had been and were being persecuted because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The programme had been preceded at 18:30 by a lecture at the Westerkerk by Viktoria Radvanyi, chair of Pride Budapest, who also spoke later at the Homomonument.
Speeches were also given at the monument by Shari Jae Ebere and Stijn de Vries. After the ceremony, Rubi Validor and Agnes Geneva laid a beautiful floral tribute at the Homomonument.
It was a powerful and meaningful gathering, marked by silence, remembrance, and connection. It was a truly memorable experience. Agnes and Rubi were proud to have represented TransAmsterdam at Dodenherdenking.
