Celebrating Freedom in Unity: An Inclusive Lunch at De Duif

On May 5th, during Liberation Day, our team members Rubi, Jana, Yazan, and Yvo celebrated freedom at the festive and meaningful Liberation Lunch held at De Duif. This special gathering brought together people from all walks of life to reflect on the importance of freedom, connection, and inclusion. It was a moment not only to honor the past but also to look ahead to a future in which everyone feels safe, respected, and free to be themselves.

During the lunch, all attendees received a special "bridge builders" pin — a symbol of appreciation for those who help create connections between communities. Our founder and chair Yvo Vas Dias and ambassador Rubi Validor were personally presented with the pin in recognition of their commitment to the visibility, empowerment, and rights of the transgender community. Their work serves as a vital bridge between people and helps build a more inclusive city.

The mayor delivered a beautiful and inspiring speech about freedom, equality, and the power of community. Moving stories were shared, and touching poems were recited that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room. The delicious food, the warm atmosphere, and the heartfelt encounters made this afternoon truly unforgettable.
