May 4th Commemoration Day

Representing TransAmsterdam, singer and film actress Agnes Geneva and our ambassador Rubi Validor attended the Remembrance of the Dead on May 4th. Together, they joined the silent march from the Westerkerk to the Homomonument, where they honoured the victims from our LGBTQIA+ community — people who were persecuted or lost their lives during wars simply for being who they were. With a touching gesture, they laid down a floral arrangement in pink, white, and blue — a tribute to the transgender community and a powerful symbol of love, remembrance, and recognition.

The ceremony was moving and respectful, featuring speeches that left a deep impression and highlighted the importance of inclusive remembrance. TransAmsterdam’s presence at this event reflects our continued commitment to visibility, acceptance, and keeping alive the stories of those who risk being forgotten. Through remembrance, solidarity, and resistance, we honour their legacy.
